Asana was started after they discovered that everyone at Facebook (they worked there) were spending a lot of time sitting in meetings, responding to email, and searching for info. So they decided to build a tool that will make it easier for teams to coordinate work.

Asana also helps people get real-time insights into the state of their team’s work, assess progress across projects, troubleshoot problems instantly and keep work on track—all in one place.
